Student support programme - 2017Back

United way in collaboration with Dream India network along with FIDES started a Student support Programme project which was sponsored by GE on April 1st. The objective of this project is to provide educational help and to develop the capacity and skills of children through different trainings and programmes. The students from all over the Bangalore were interviewed and 200 students were selected, both girls and boys, from different areas of Bangalore. Mr. Jose who was appointed as the coordinator of the programme, especially to monitor the project by family visits, college visits and conducting the meetings for the students with the support of Dream India network and FIDES.

Based on the selected list of the students for the scholarship, the coordinator visited majority of the families to check the deserving candidates for the scholarship. The field visit was an occasion to understand and study the economic condition of the family and the educational performance of the students. Field evaluation made a conclusion that the listed students were deserving students. A few of the undeserving students were removed based on the evaluation conducted by the team and added most deserving students.

The inauguration of the student programme was an event organized by united way and Dream India network along with the FIDES organization for the student and parents on 16-07-2017 in FIDES at Avalahalli. The programme was inaugurated by the team from the United way, Dream India network and FIDES organization. There were 360 participants besides the volunteers and other supporters.

The resource persons of the inaugural function, Mr. Manish CEO, Mr. David, Mr. Mathew CEO, Sr. Monica and Mr. Girish gave inspiring messages, instructions and monitored the students based on the purpose of this project. Two student representatives expressed their opinion about the scholarship programme and how it is helpful for the students for their education.

Under the leadership of Mr. Girish and Sr. Soba, the students were divided into groups and selected leaders for the group in order to make the participation of the students easier.The inaugural ceremony also involved the distribution of the bags, note books and pen for the deserving candidates. The programme was concluded by providing refreshment for the participants.
